🛰 About UAS Ops

UASOPS is a real-time field operations mapping platform for UAS teams, fire departments, search and rescue, and emergency responders. Pilots drop GPS pins from the aircraft controller and all team members see them live on a shared map.

Three access levels:

Admin — Full access. Create operations, manage settings, drop and delete pins, submit waivers.

User — Drop pins and view map. Cannot delete or access settings.

Viewer — Map view only. See all pins in real time. No account needed.

Livestream: When a pilot starts a MapNova livestream and shares to the department address, the Watch Live button appears automatically for all users.

Drone Compatibility: UASOPS has been tested on DJI controllers. Autel controllers run Android and should be compatible but have not been formally tested. Skydio and other platforms are untested.

📱 Install on Device

iPhone / iPad (Safari): Tap the Share button → Add to Home Screen → Add. Opens full screen like a native app.

Android (Chrome): Tap the three-dot menu → look for "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen." Once installed, the app opens full screen with no address bar.

Android (Firefox): Tap the three-dot menu → Install. The app opens in standalone mode.

Desktop: Look for the install icon in the browser address bar, or check the three-dot menu for "Install UASOPS."

Why install? Installing UASOPS gives you full-screen mode with no browser address bar, faster loading, and offline access to cached maps and data. Recommended for all field devices.

Tip: If the Install button above or "Install app" in the browser menu doesn't appear, try reloading the page. The browser needs to verify the app meets PWA requirements before offering install.

Dropping a pin: Long press anywhere on the map (mobile) or right-click (desktop) to drop a pin instantly. Or use the Drop Pin tab — enter a label, then type coordinates or tap Use My Location.

Edit a pin: Tap any pin to open its popup, then tap Edit to change the label, note, or pin type.

Move a pin: When editing a pin, drag the marker to reposition it on the map.

Pin types: Admin can define custom pin types (symbols + labels) in Settings. Enabled types appear when editing a pin.

Searching: Use the search bar to find by address, GPS coordinates (decimal or DMS), or What3Words address (///word.word.word).

Map layers: Switch between Street, Satellite, Topo, and Hybrid using the map layer button.

Font size: Use the +/− buttons to adjust pin popup text size for your conditions.

🛠️ Admin Guide

This section is only visible to admins.

Initial Setup

After your department's subdomain is created (e.g. yourteam.uasops.app), log in as Admin with the PIN provided. Go to Settings to configure your department.

Settings > SET UP

Department Info: Set your department name, address, and contact info. This appears in waivers and reports.

Team Roster: Add team members with name, role, and contact. These appear in project gear and mission reports.

Drone Roster: Add each drone with make, model, type, FAA registration, and owner. Used in waivers and reports.

Pilot Profile: Set the primary pilot's name, phone, email, Part 107 cert, and COA number. Used for SGI waiver auto-fill.

Pin Types: Enable/disable pin type categories (Personnel, Hazards, Equipment, etc). Enabled types appear when users create or edit pins.

User Permissions: Control whether Users can edit or delete pins created by other users. Both are on by default.

Department SOG: Upload a PDF of your Standard Operating Guidelines. Once uploaded, a SOG button appears on the Projects screen for all users to view.

Livestream: Configure MapNova integration for live drone video streaming to the team map.

Settings > ACCESS

Admin PIN: The master PIN for full access. Change it from the default immediately.

User PIN: Set a PIN for Users who can drop pins. Leave blank to allow access without a PIN.

Viewer PIN: Set a PIN for Viewers. Leave blank for open view access.

Temporary PINs: Grant time-limited access by role with name labels. Useful for mutual aid or visiting personnel.

Access Links: Share the department's URL with role-specific links for quick access.

Settings > TOOLS

GPS Conversion: Paste coordinates in any format (DD, DMS, DDM, UTM) and see all formats instantly. All outputs tap to copy.

Offline Maps: Download map tiles for use without connectivity. Select the area, choose layers and detail level, then download.

Operations

Each operation is a separate project with its own pins and map. Create operations from the Projects screen. Use the gear icon on each operation to manage on-scene personnel, active drones, and pre-flight checklist.

Tips & Notes

Admin can add Department Notes in Help > Department Notes. These are visible to all users in your department. Global Tips and Known Issues are published by UASOPS support and appear for all departments.

SGI Waivers

Generate FAA SGI waiver documents from the Waivers button on the Projects screen. The waiver auto-fills from Pilot Profile, Department Info, and GPS data. Review before submitting to FAA.

Network Dependency. Real-time features require network connectivity. Cached data may be outdated. Always verify current conditions before acting.

Not FAA Guidance. SGI waiver generation is a convenience tool only. The user is solely responsible for FAA compliance and the accuracy of all submitted information.

Data Responsibility. Users are responsible for the data they enter. UASOPS does not guarantee data preservation or backup.

Emergency Use. UASOPS is a support tool, not a replacement for established emergency protocols, communication systems, or chain of command.

Terms of Use. By using UASOPS, you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at uasops.app/terms and uasops.app/privacy.

Data Ownership. Your department owns all data entered into UASOPS. Data is stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) and transmitted over encrypted connections. We do not sell or share your data with third parties. PIN-based access controls protect your department's information.

Not a Life-Safety System. UASOPS is not a life-safety system and should not be relied upon as the sole means of communication during emergency operations.
